Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Foothold Partners Ltd collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers people who contact us, people who visit this website, and people we contact on behalf of our clients.
Who we are

For data protection purposes we are the controller of the personal data described below, except where stated otherwise. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number [ICO NUMBER].

If you contact us
When you book a call, complete the market read questionnaire, or email us, we collect the information you give us. That is typically your name, your work email address, your company, and whatever you tell us about your business.
We use it to answer you, to prepare for a call, and to decide whether we can help. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests before any contract exists, and performance of a contract once you become a client.
Enquiry records are kept for 24 months from our last contact, then deleted. Client records are kept for seven years after the engagement ends, because tax law requires it.
If we contact you
This is the section that matters most, and we would rather over-explain it.
Where your details came from
Business contact details are built from publicly available and business sources. In practice that means:
- The Companies House register, including filed accounts and officer and PSC records
- Published contract award notices, including Contracts Finder and Find a Tender
- Company websites and published team pages
- Trade bodies, accreditation registers and membership directories
- Business data providers who confirm to us that their data is lawfully sourced
We do not buy consumer data, and we do not contact personal email addresses.
Our lawful basis
We contact people in a business capacity, at their work address, about something relevant to their role. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR, and our marketing is sent to corporate subscribers as permitted by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
We have carried out a legitimate interests assessment. You can ask us for it.
Stopping it
Every message we send carries a working opt-out. Using it removes you immediately and permanently, and we keep a minimal suppression record so you are not contacted again by mistake. You can also just reply and say so, or email hello@yourfoothold.com.
Contact records are kept for up to 24 months from the last contact unless you ask us to remove them sooner.
When we are acting for a client
Where we run outreach for a client, that client is normally the controller and we act as their processor under a written agreement. If you want your data removed from a specific client's campaign, tell us and we will action it and pass the request on.
This website
This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies and we do not run analytics on it. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability, which are deleted on their normal cycle.
Our booking page is provided by Cal.com and is subject to their privacy policy. Our questionnaire is hosted by Google Forms.
Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us operate, each under contract:
- Google Workspace for email, calendar and documents
- Instantly for sending and managing outreach campaigns
- Cal.com for booking calls
- Our accountants and, where necessary, our professional advisers
- A client, where you have replied to a campaign we run for them
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where data is transferred internationally we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How we protect it
Accounts use unique passwords held in a password manager, with two-factor authentication where the provider supports it. Access is limited to people who need it, which at present means one person.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to object to our processing on legitimate interests grounds. If you object to direct marketing we will stop, without exception and without asking why.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or call 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first, but it is your right either way.
Changes
If we change this policy we update the date at the top. Material changes affecting people we already hold data on will be notified directly.
